We’re a small, curated shop. Every box is hand-picked and wrapped with love, so most orders are final sale. That said, we’ll always make it right if something goes wrong.
Cancellations

You may cancel within 24 hours of purchase if your order hasn’t shipped yet.
Damaged, Incorrect, or Missing Items
If your order arrives damaged, with an incorrect item, or is missing something:

Email hello@darkchapterbooks.com within 7 days of delivery.

Include your order number and clear photos of:

the shipping box (outside + label),
-
all contents,
-
the specific issue (damage/incorrect/missing).

We’ll replace the affected item(s) or issue a refund/store credit.

When the error is on us or the carrier, we cover return/replacement shipping.

Note: Shipping costs are not refundable unless the issue was our error.
Lost in Transit

US orders: contact us if tracking shows no movement for 10 business days.

International: contact us after 21 business days with no movement.
We’ll investigate with the carrier and arrange a replacement or refund if deemed lost.
Duplicate Title Exchange
While we do our best to avoid duplicates, they can happen.

If you received a book you already own, we offer a one-time exchange for a different title in the same genre/tier.

Email hello@darkchapterbooks.com within 7 days of delivery with:

your order number,

a photo of the received book,

a photo of your existing copy,
-
any updated preferences (tropes/spice/hard limits).

Items must be returned in original, unread condition with all included unused extras.

Return shipping: we will send you a return label and will cover the outbound shipment of the replacement.
Final Sale Items

Preference-based returns (e.g., “didn’t like the story” or “wanted a different sub-genre”) aren’t eligible.

Opened/used consumables (tea/cocoa), candles/incense, skincare items, and custom/limited items are final sale unless damaged on arrival.
How to Start a Claim
Email hello@darkchapterbooks.com with the subject line RETURN/EXCHANGE – Order #xxxx. Include photos and a brief description. We typically reply within 1–2 business days.
Refund Method
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method or as store credit (your choice unless otherwise noted). Please allow 3–5 business days after we receive/approve the return for the refund to post.
Packaging Your Return
Use the original box when possible and pack items securely. We’re not responsible for returns damaged in transit due to insufficient packaging.
International Orders
Duties/taxes are set by your country and are non-refundable. If a package is refused or returned due to unpaid customs, we can refund the product amount minus shipping once it arrives back in sellable condition.
