Shipping Policy

We ship from our little lair in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Every order is hand-packed with love, thank you for your patience and allow us a moment to do it right.

Processing Times

  • Standard: 1–3 business days to prepare your order.

  • Launch weeks / holidays: 3–5 business days (we’ll note delays at the top of the site).

  • You’ll receive a tracking email the moment your box is scanned.

Carriers & Methods

  • Domestic (USA): USPS or UPS Standard (est. 3–5 business days) and Expedited (est. overnight 2 days) options at checkout.

  • International: USPS/UPS (est. 3–21 business days, customs may extend). Duties/taxes are paid by the recipient.

  • Carrier estimates are not guarantees, weather, holidays, and carrier volume can add time.

Rates & Free Shipping

  • Real-time rates are calculated at checkout by weight, size, and destination.

  • We offer free US shipping on orders $100+ (after discounts, before tax).

Address Changes

  • Need to fix your address? Email hello@darkchapterbooks.com within 1 day of ordering with “ADDRESS UPDATE – Order #xxxx”.

  • Once an order has shipped, we can’t change the address.

Lost, Delayed, or Stolen Packages

  • Delayed/in transit: If tracking stalls, reach out after 10 business days (US) or 21 business days (intl.) and we’ll investigate.

  • Marked delivered but not received: Check with household/neighbors/front desk and wait 48 hours (carriers sometimes pre-scan). Then email us, we’ll help file a claim.

  • Declared lost by the carrier? We’ll replace or refund according to stock.

Damaged in Transit

If anything arrives less than perfect:

  1. Email hello@darkchapterbooks.com within 7 days of delivery.

  2. Include your order number and clear photos of the outer box (with label), packing materials, and the item(s).

  3. We’ll arrange a replacement or refund for the affected item(s).

International Duties & Taxes

  • Customs fees/VAT are set by your country and are not included at checkout.

  • If a parcel is refused or returned due to unpaid fees, we can refund the product cost minus shipping once it returns in sellable condition.

Gifts

  • Add a gift note at checkout, we’ll handwrite it and omit pricing.

  • Send-to-recipient? Triple-check the address and apartment number if applicable.

Eco-Conscious Packing

  • Right-sized boxes, paper-first materials, and reusable items (totes/mugs). We protect the goods without excess plastic.
